Did you know that Raleigh is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country? According to recent data released by the U.S. census Bureau, Raleigh takes the No. 14 spot in a list of 25.

In just one year from July 2015 to July 2016, Raleigh added more than 31,500 people. This equals a 2.5 percent increase from the previous year, bringing the total population to those living in the City of Oaks to 1.3 million.

With the 31,500 influx of residents to the area, Raleigh also made the top 25 list of metros with the largest total gain. Only three other cities in the results made both lists.

Wondering why Raleigh’s population has increased so much? The answer lies in the fact that people are moving to the area for a multitude of reasons. Data shows that more than 22,600 people moved to Raleigh in the past year, while 15,900 were born.

Because of numbers like this, many are looking for new homes in the area. With plenty of new home communities to choose from in the Raleigh area, it’s no secret as to why this is one of the most desirable areas to live in.
