North Carolina Railroad Museum

The North Carolina Railroad Museum is located in Apex, gathering nearly 16,000 visitors a year. You and your family can enjoy the day riding a train, learning about railroad history, viewing the equipment, or watching the outdoor G-scale garden railroad. The ride on the train goes through scenic forests, with views of the locomotive and the landscape for a fun, hour long ride. The combination of rich history, a fun ride on the train, and checking out the museum and rail yard makes for a great day spent.

Apex Farmers Market

Indulge your inner foodie and find great, local eats at the Apex Farmers Market every Saturday morning in downtown Apex. Enjoy healthy, locally produced products, support area farmers, and get involved in this educational, fun experience. Visiting shoppers can visit the education area, where local hosts and chefs share their cooking skills, nutrition tips, farming and gardening information, or listen to a local music entertainer perform, or check out the kids activity tent! It’s a well-rounded experience for everyone in your family.

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area

Jordan LakeJordan Lake is a gorgeous, 14,000 acre reservoir with more than 1,000 campsites, 14 miles of hiking trails, access areas, and 7 swim beaches. You can hook up your RV, pitch a tent, and watch for bald eagles and osprey on a long weekend out at Jordan Lake! They also offer picnic shelters, courtesy docks, group camping spots, water and electric hookups, and have many facilities you can reserve. It’s the ultimate outdoor experience, and a great way to spend the weekend.

Cloer Family Vineyards

Cloer Family Vineyards is a locally owned and operated vineyard, the second in the Triangle area, that grows its own grapes and produces their own wines on site. The winery has a traditional southern feel, and offers wine tastings, tours, wine purchases, and hosts private events. It’s the perfect place for an evening out, a weekend with friends, or a place to just relax and relieve your stress. The Cloer family is very involved in every step of the process, so you’re truly supporting local Apex residents when you visit.

Knight’s Play Golf Center

Knight’s Play is a par-three course in Apex that’s gorgeous and well-maintained. The course can be played at night, under illumination lights and all the way until midnight! It’s a great place to take a lesson, whether for you or your kids, or to organize and play in a private tournament! There’s a clubhouse, grill, and pro shop, and they have PGA professionals on staff daily. Knight’s Play is a fun course, and the perfect place to spend a warm afternoon.
