With Christmas quickly approaching, we are willing to bet that you’re scrambling around for last minute presents. If you’re living in the Triangle area, we’ve got you covered. Instead of heading to the overwhelming shopping centers and crowded malls, why not shop local? The Triangle has some of the best shops that cater to everyone from foodies to craft beer aficionados. No matter who you’re shopping for this holiday season, let us give you some of the best local selections to make everyone happy come December 25.

For the foodies:

La Farm Bakery – Known as one of the most popular bakeries in Cary, La Farm is known for its bread and pastries. During the holiday season, they are offering stamped bread that features reindeers and the words, “Happy Holidays.” Orders can be picked up in store or via shipment. Order before Dec. 21 to ensure that yours will be ready before Christmas Day.

For the craft beer lover:

Beer Cap Maps – If you know someone who loves N.C. and craft beer, we have the perfect present for you to give. Beer Cap Maps offer maps shaped like states with designated spots to display one’s favorite caps from local beer bottles. Both metal and wood versions are available and can be hung on the wall.

NC Made – Instead of the usual pint glass or beer t-shirt, why not give a beer box instead? Durham-based NC Made sells and ships beer boxes that include items made with N.C. brews – minus the beer itself. Some of the staples include Bull City Burger & Brewery’s Beer & Bacon BBQ Sauce, Copper Pot & Wooden Spoon’s Spiced Apple Beer Jam, Crooked Condiments’ Gaelic Ale Mustard and Hops & Nuts’ Choco-Porter Nuts.

Our State Store – The Our State magazine offers a store section, with plenty of “Drink Local” items that are perfect for the North Carolinian in your life. Featuring items such as N.C. bottle openers and Drink Local t-shirts, you’ll be guaranteed to find something that will match the appreciation someone has for his or her craft brew.

For women:

The Museum Shop at the North Carolina Museum of History – Located on the ground floor of the MC Museum of Natural History, this shop has plenty of handmade gifts sure to please a best friend, girlfriend, wife, or fiancé. The store offers a variety of N.C. pottery, soaps, lotions, books, and toffee. Also, it’s the only place you’ll be able to find jewelry made from copper extracted from the N.C. State Capitol building’s dome. Go for the Dogwood-themed earrings as a token of appreciation for N.C.’s state flower.

Moon and Lola – Since opening in 2003, Moon and Lola designer Kelly Shatat has seen great success in catering to customer’s needs. Several of the store’s items have even been named to Oprah’s list of “Favorite Things.” Moon and Lola is a North Carolina-based jewelry and lifestyle

Collegiate apparel – Our guess is that we all knows someone who is a fan of one of the Triangle’s sports teams. Whether that be fans of basketball or football – we’ll leave that one up to you to decide. All N.C. universities have apparel shops with items such as dri-fit shirts, half-zip pullovers, and even polos.
